We still wonder what these fans screamed at their team to bring about the devastating defeat that the Saudi Arabian team suffered at their hands, but one thing is certain: they are not to be messed with, and certainly not in their own country. They cheered the Russian team to a near win against Croatia and didn’t lose spirit when they lost on penalties.
The fans did pretty well for a team that came from the lowest-ranking side to qualify for the World Cup. The Russian team upped its ranking to 33rd in the 2022 FIFA rankings, from 48th in 2018.
